The shortest way from A to B never includes getting lost.
If you hypermill well on a hundred mile journey and make a saving of 10% on fuel economy then take a wrong turn and drive 10 miles out of your way then you have just wasted that saving, as well as wasted 15 mins of your life getting moaned at by the missus because you are now late, and its always her family events you are late for, never your mothers and isn’t it time you put her in a home etc etc.
The most basic point is know were you are going. Check the map before you leave, plan your route and use online tools such as the AA route planner or Google Maps and learn how to configure them to show you the most efficient route.
Do not assume the shortest route is the cheapest route – when traffic is free flowing a motorway route will often be more economical than a cross country route. Even if the cross country rat run is, on the face of it, a shorter journey.
Invest in a sat nav system. They can now be purchased for as little as £50 and work well though are no substitue for actually having a map and looking were you are going. Again, learn how to use the sat nav software to plot the most efficient route.
Hypermilling.co.uk is simply a small website about hypermilling – hypermilling techniques wll be listed and explained, news about hypermilling listed and links off to useful hypermilling resources.
Remember – being safe is more important than miles per gallon and even a small bump will totally negate any savings made by hypermilling.
You should always make sure your car is totally road legal and your car insurance is up to date, if you have any doubt contact your car insurance company.
