Short Warm Up
Start the car and get going
The days of manual chokes and leaving cars for 10 mins to warm up before starting are long gone. modern cars with decent engine management systems and high quality oils just don’t need this – you will waste fuel and often be actually damaging the engine.
You should start the car, wait a moment or two, confirm it is running as expected then pull gently away.
Remember the car will be likely to be running on a cold start map at this point so it is going to be inefficient. Your aim it to get the car up to speed as soon as possible without overstressing a cold engine. Accerlate briskly, time your journey so you do not hit a traffic jam while the car is still stone cold as it will take an age to warm up.
